With the two-week participation of the third group of interns in the summer internship in radio astronomy and the construction of the first Bulgarian LOFAR-BG station, the construction of both antenna fields near NAO Rozhen was successfully completed on schedule.
Alongside the installation of the low-band antennas, the interns had the opportunity to gain foundational knowledge of radio astronomy through a series of lectures delivered by Prof. Dr. Kamen Kozarev, Prof. Dr. Rositsa Miteva, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanko Nikolov from the Institute of Astronomy with NAO, as well as by Prof. Dr. Dragomir Marchev from the Astronomical Center of Shumen University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petar Petkov from the Technical University of Sofia, and Kalin Mutavchiev from the Ministry of Education and Science.

The interns also had the opportunity to visit the optical telescopes at NAO Rozhen, including the observatory’s two most recent acquisitions.
The participants in the third group received their certificates from Prof. Dr. Kamen Kozarev, Director of the Institute of Astronomy with NAO, in recognition of their contribution to the construction of the first Bulgarian station of the pan-European LOFAR radio telescope.
